Love Stories

I have had the honor of photographing and telling hundreds of love stories as a wedding photographer in Chattanooga.  Please take a look around for ideas and inspiration for telling yours.

Best Places for Engagement Photos in Chattanooga

Chattanooga is called the scenic city for a reason.  We have tons of great locations in Chattanooga to take photos.  We have rivers, mountains, open fields, cool urban settings, and pretty much everything in between.  My favorite sessions are engagements so I have scouted the best places in town for engagement photos.  I have listed a few of the best places to take engagement photos in Chattanooga (and the surrounding areas) below.

(In no particular order)

Sunset Rock & Point Park

This is a Chattanooga landmark.  It has stunning views and the sunsets are amazing.  However, there are some warnings.  The parking lot for Sunset Rock is VERY small and the surrounding homes are quick to report cars parked illegally (Don’t try it, trust me).  You can’t blame them, it’s rude to park like you own their neighborhood.  I usually recommend using a car ride service to make sure we don’t have to worry about parking.  I include point park because it a stunning park with a lot of options and great views of Chattanooga.  There is an entry fee to get into point park, but no permit requirement if there are no props or lighting equipment.

Snooper’s Rock

One of the best places in Chattanooga to watch the sunrise.  This location is only worth going in the early hours with breathtaking views as the sun peaks over the mountains.  This location is in Prentice Cooper State Forrest and quite a drive down a dirt road.  The parks system requires 14 day notice, a fee, and a permit.  Photography by a professional without a permit carries a hefty fine so don’t risk it!

Coolidge Park & Walnut Street Bridge

This is one of the most picturesque and quintessential “Chattanooga” locations you can choose.  However, that doesn’t mean it isn’t stunning.  The light is always good and the views by the water and of the skyline are awesome.  There are also lots of little hidden areas in both Coolidge and Renaissance park that make for great and creative photos!

The West Village

If you want photos that look like a night out on the town, this is the spot for you!  The West Village has great light and one of the newest, trendiest spots in town.  It’s walking distance to Miller park, The Read House, and The Tivoli theater.

The Chickamauga Battlefield

If dreamy, boho, woods & grassy fields are for you then you will love this location.  It is a huge park and there are tons of great spots to choose from and lots of opportunity to be creative.

Falling Water Falls

This is a great location if you want a bluff-like view and a cool stream to dip your toes into that is an easy walk.  This location in signal mountain is easy to get to and has great views of the valley.  However, if you are looking for a waterfall in your photos you will be disappointed.  The path down to view the falls is completely blocked.

Cloudland Canyon State Park

This park has gorgeous views of the Tennessee mountains from several great overlooks.  There are also 2 waterfalls to choose from, but they are quite a hike so keep that in mind!  Lots and lots of stairs involved!

Chilhowee Recreation Area

This is one of my favorite views, although it is about a 1 hour drive from Chattanooga.  There are several lookouts and the winding roads are so cute for photos.  If you are in for a hike Benton Falls is about 30 min easy walk.

Greenway Farms

Sometimes the simplest locations are the best. This park in Hixson may not look like much at first but it has great light and a ton of great locations within the park to work with.  It is definitely one of my favorite places to shoot!

Big Soddy Gulf

If you like rocky creek-beds, pretty lighting and getting a little wet this is a great place for engagement photos.  This location is easy to access and there is definitely a lot to explore.  In the springtime there are lots of things in bloom too!

Your favorite date night spot!

I love it when couples want to customize their engagement experience with something that is personal to them.  We can re-create your first date or just an activity or location that is special to the two of you.  It could be having drinks, cooking in your kitchen, or playing video games!  I also love it when couples want to use their own networks to find a really unique idea not open to just anyone.

Caty & Simon got married at her grandmother's private estate inside the Sandestin resort in Florida.  They fell in love chatting by the water so it only made since they say their vows here too.

It's not every wedding that starts with a luxury car in a venue styled like a tuscan villa and ends with karaoke and fireworks!  This wedding was EPIC!
